Hamblett
& Kerrigan on the Move
NASHUA
-1997- Nashua's historic Indian Head Bank
Building, located at the corner of Main and Temple streets and vacant
for the past year, has been leased by the Law firm of Hamblett &
Kerrigan, PA. The firm has signed a long-term
lease with owner M&P Partners Limited Partnership and has sublet
portions of the first and second floors to the Greater Nashua Chamber
of Commerce and Granite Bank.
Hamblett
& Kerrigan, located at One Indian Head Plaza for the past decade,
moved its entire operation, with 40 employees, to the new downtown
location in mid-February, 1998. The firm now occupies all of the
former Indian Head Bank building's third floor and the balance of
the first and second floors.
"It
seems fitting that Nashua's oldest law firm is now located on one
of the city's most historic sites," says Senior Partner Joseph
Kerrigan.
"We
are very pleased to take an active role in the revitalization of
Nashua's downtown. When I first began practicing law in Nashua in
1951, our offices were in this same Indian Head building,"
continued Kerrigan. "Now I am enjoying a sort of a professional
homecoming. And it brings back great memories."
The
146 Main Street site was previously the location of the Telegraph
Building, erected in 1871. When the newspaper built new offices
just two blocks north in 1909, the Indian Head Bank took over residency.
A spectacular fire in 1922 destroyed much of the original building,
although Indian Head was able to operate for nearly two years on
the remaining ground floor, which was saved. The present structure
was erected in 1924.
