The
representation of civil defendants, including self-insureds, insurance
carriers, and insureds has been a cornerstone of Hamblett &
Kerrigan's practice for many years. We represent nationwide defendants
and focus on obtaining efficient, cost-effective results for our
clients. Our senior partner Joseph M. Kerrigan has been consistently
recognized as an extraordinarily effective defense trial lawyer:
Indeed, the New Hampshire legislature drew on Mr. Kerrigan's expertise
in the drafting and implementation of New Hampshire's recent product
liability law changes.
Our
attorneys are represented in the American College of Trial Lawyers,
the Northern New England Defense Counsel Association, and the Defense
Research Institute, and are listed in Best's Directory of Recommended
Insurance Counsel. Joseph M. Kerrigan and Timothy G. Kerrigan are
Nashua's only selected representatives in the National Association
of Defense Trial Attorneys. The practice group has extensive experience
in all aspects of defense law, including such matters as:
- Products
liability claims

coverage issues, including uninsured motorists law, permissive
use, and stacking issues

The
trial attorneys in the defense practice group understand the need
for the carrier and/or client to be fully informed and actively
involved in all areas of the case. The group places a particular
emphasis on early, effective evaluation of all new matters and the
development of reasonable case plans to provide cost-effective representation
in accordance with carrier guidelines. Several members of the group
have served as mediators and arbitrators, and have training in the
effective use of alternative dispute resolution. Members of the
group have tried various cases in New Hampshire and Massachusetts
state and federal courts, and administrative agencies, and have
handled appeals in state and federal appellate courts.
