"An
attorney referring clients to us for handling a specific matter
must have assurance that his client will be well represented in
that matter and will remain his client afterwards."
- Joseph M. Kerrigan,
retired, Hamblett & Kerrigan
Mr.
Kerrigan's statement embodies how the attorneys and staff at Hamblett
& Kerrigan treat referrals from other attorneys. First and foremost,
we are dedicated to the goals of the client. We represent referred
matters as we represent our own clients. We also respect the fact
that referred clients have a history of a positive working relationship
with the referring attorney. We honor most existing fee agreements
and share fees appropriately. The referred client is always regarded
as the client of the referring attorney, and we work with both parties
as appropriate. We may take the lead on representing any given matter,
team with the referring attorney, or simply act as local counsel.
Under any scenario, referring counsel will feel confident that his
or her client will be well represented. Finally, we make our best
efforts to reciprocate and refer other matters back to counsel who
have worked with us in the past.
Our
attorneys have a long history of handling referred matters, and
are members of local and national legal organizations where referrals
are handled to the mutual benefit of all concerned.
